Waiting Mother

Well today we went and had 10 pages of our dossier notarized. We are getting so excited to meet this little guy that God has picked out for us. I am currently reading a book on toddler adoption and read this song from a mother who was waiting to adopt her son. I think that it fits so well I would like to share it with you:

I'm pregnant, but my tummy isn't growing,
And no one ever calls me "Little Mom."
The public simply isn't overflowing
With questions that I'd handle with aplomb.

There are no special clothes to mark my waiting.
Nobody stops and smiles as I pass by.
The absence of a due-date is frustrating
And looking at the nursery makes me cry.

When I'm overdue no one will worry.
The phone won't ring and ring as friends check in.
I can't induce my labor in a hurry,
My new life as a parent to begin.

Adoptin is a worrisome endeavor,
And waiting all alone is not much fun.
To be "with child" a year seems like forever.
Dear God, we're ready! Please send us our son!

Moving Along

Well on Christmas Eve we had our traditional homemade by Tom and the girls true Italian spaghetti dinner with our best friends the Perier family and my parents. While we were getting the last minute things together our friend Hal went outside to have a smoke and when he came in, he handed me the mail. In that mail was our appointment for our CIS fingerprints. (THANKS TO HAL FOR THE SPECIAL DELIVERY!!) Our appointment was for today Dec 26th, so at 1:00 this afternoon we headed to get those fingerprints in. We were so excited to be one step closer to our little man. We will be off to file our paperwork for our passports tomorrow. And a few more documents for our dossier and we will be completely finished with paperwork and just waiting for a referral.

Be Thankful

Check out this post of a couple who went to Ethiopia to pick up their children. www.jobsdaughters.blogspot.com This video is the Kolfe boys at the orphanage. Watching this video during the Christmas is truly a reality check. It reminded me how I should be truly thankful for what I have. Just the other day I was complaining on how small my kitchen is and how I just can't wait to move to another house that has a nicer kitchen. This video made me stop and thank God for how He has blessed our family and made me appreciate my kitchen. My heart just melted when I seen the living conditions of these boys and then I read what the adoptive mother said about them and they are so unselfish, and how they have endured such hardship at such a young age. Please keep these boys in your prayers.

Welcome to our Journey

Hello Family and Friends,

Wow I think that I need a class on blogging. This is my first blog so any suggestion please let me know.

Tom and I would like to share with you our decision to adopt a little boy from Ethiopia. God starting speaking to us about adoption about 1.5 years ago. So finally in June of 2007 we obeyed His calling and decided that we would adopt from Ethiopia. We feel that God has shaped our family for this adventure and are looking forward to meeting our little man.

So far during this process people have asked us a lot of questions so I will try and answer some of them for you in this first entry.

1) Why did you choose Ethiopia? We chose Ethiopia because we were amazed at the poverty level and the amount of orphans in this country. The time frame for adoption in this country is shorter than a lot of other places. Also Tom grandparents served in the peace corp, so there was a little connection for us. The girls have always been drawn to people from Africa. Kenzie had a friend in the first grade that came from Sudan who spoke no English and Kenzie helped her learn English and they have become very close friends. Deanna loves to help children who are under privileged , and Alli loves everyone.

2)How long does it take until he comes home? Well we are not really sure at this point. We decided to adopt in June, turned in our application in early August, then started preparing for our home study. Our home study was done on November 17 and we sent the official home to our agency in early December. We are now waiting for our appointment with the immigration agency for our fingerprints. It is estimated that we should be going the Ethiopia sometime in May or June.

If you have any question please feel free to ask and I will try to answer them.

Please join us and our children on this incredible journey as we walk in faith to bring little Caleb home.
